FPL gameweek 29 captain
With gameweek 29 of the Premier League fast approaching, it’s that time again where we make our last minute FPL alterations and managerial strokes of genius!
Who to captain in Fantasy Premier League is a weekly dilemma for many managers, and therefore we have once again conducted an FPL captaincy Twitter poll to make our readers’ lives that little bit easier. (Follow us on Twitter @DFFBET).
We narrowed it down to the following:
Romelu Lukaku (H vs Hull) – 69%
- Alexis Sanchez (A vs West Brom) – 17%
- Jermain Defoe (H vs Burnley) – 12%
- Other – 2%
So, who is the best FPL captain this week?
Romelu Lukaku – With 69% of the votes, and perhaps unsurprisingly, it was Everton’s Belgian forward who came out on top in this week’s poll! Lukaku is the current Premier League joint-top scorer with 19 goals alongside Harry Kane, and with a home game against 18th-placed Hull City this weekend, it’s no surprise that so many of you will be captaining him in GW29.
Added to this, Lukaku has managed 7 goals in his last 5 appearances – as well as scoring in each of the Merseyside club’s last 5 home matches. He’s certainly a man in exceptional form and clearly a fantastic captaincy tip for this weekend.
Don’t have Lukaku? Or don’t fancy him as your captain in gameweek 29?
Alexis Sanchez – With 17% of the votes, Alexis Sanchez was the second most favoured captaincy tip pick for gameweek 29. The Chilean forward has contributed 17 goals and 10 assists so far this campaign, managing to stay consistent despite Arsenal’s poor run of form.
His away trip to West Brom won’t be easy, however, the Baggies did lose their last home game 0-2 at the hands of strugglers Crystal Palace… as well as suffering a 3-0 defeat at Everton in GW28.
Fancy an outsider?
12% of you backed Jermain Defoe for FPL captain in GW29, with the England forward facing a very winnable home game against Burnley.
The visitors have the worst away record in the Premier League having picked up only 2 points in 14 away matches, conceding 30 goals in the process.
If Sunderland are to mount a late survival bid this season, as they usually do, you’d think that this is a must win game for them, and therefore Defoe should be bang up for it (not that he’s the type of player to shy away ordinarily).
With 14 goals and 3 assists so far, he’s had an excellent season in a team that otherwise offers very little. If you’re playing catchup on some of the other people in your private leagues on Fantasy Premier League, Defoe could definitely be a decent captaincy gamble to differentiate yourself from all the Lukaku backers in GW29!
So there we have it, Lukaku at home to Hull City is this week’s Fantasy Premier League captain tip based on your votes! Please follow us on Twitter @DFFBET to participate in future votes.
